Buscando un destino con mayores opciones educativas y recreativas llegamos a Mérida. Adquirimos una residencia cuya obra ya estaba avanzada, y nos permitió reinterpretar su distribución, seleccionar acabados y definir un diseño interior con una identidad más sofisticada.
Las vigas estructurales de acero negro marcaron el carácter del proyecto. A partir de ellas, construimos una paleta de blancos luminosos, travertino, mármol Santo Tomás, granito negro San Gabriel y madera tropical de tzalam. El mobiliario de líneas curvas suaviza la geometría de la arquitectura, mientras los grandes ventanales enmarcan vistas hacia las áreas verdes y preservan la privacidad
La amplitud, la luz y los contrastes materiales definen una estética más urbana. El acero negro dialoga con la piedra laja regional, los pisos claros y los acentos metálicos, creando un equilibrio entre precisión y calidez. Cada elección combina intención estética y funcionalidad: desde los revestimientos de piedra natural en baños y cubiertas hasta la cocina equipada con lavavajillas y los paneles solares.
La luz entra por los grandes ventanales y la casa se abre hacia las áreas verdes; las tardes pasan entre el jardín y la piscina, y los espacios amplios dejan sitio a la familia y a los amigos. Looking for a city offering greater educational and recreational opportunities, we arrive to Mérida. We acquired a residence already under construction, allowing us to reinterpret its layout, select finishes, and shape an interior design with a more sophisticated identity.
The black steel structural beams became a defining feature of the project. Around them, we developed a palette of luminous whites, travertine, Santo Tomás marble, San Gabriel black granite, and tropical tzalam wood. Curved furnishings soften the geometry of the architecture, while expansive windows frame views of the surrounding greenery.
The interplay of space, light, and contrasting materials defines a more urban aesthetic. Black steel meets regional flagstone, light-toned floors, and metallic accents, creating a balance between precision and warmth. Every choice brings together visual intention and everyday functionality, from natural stone finishes in the bathrooms and on vanity countertops to the leather-finish black granite kitchen surfaces
